Intro into Flame Working

This is an introductory class that is designed to show the student the power and capability of a torch typically used to craft glass marbles, figurines, jewelry, ornaments, and other objects. Small oxy-fuel torches that are both cheap, and easy to set up, will be the focus of the class. The goal is to get new students to understand how much room there is to grow using introductory equipment, and how in the future, skills permitting, large high quality work can be done in a small, low cost, studio space. We will cover the basics of how to set up a small area safe for flame-working and go over safe working practices for a long term healthy working environment. Also covered will be how to construct a working space of their own and what materials work the best for a small hot glass studio. Working glass in an open flame will be explored over a two day period. Torches, tools, and safety equipment is provided by the instructors, please wear long pants and closed toed shoes.
