Using hand and power tools you will be immersed in the limitless pattern potential that is modern Damascus Steel (Pattern-Welded steel).
Students will hammer weld a stack of steel into bar and work that bar into a simple knife.
You will see how subtle changes can affect the final pattern on the blade.
From there you will heat treat, grind and fit a handle to the blade.

Metallurgy, Heat Treating and Etching will also be covered.

NOTE:
All students must be at least 16 years old to participate and Minors must be accompanied by an adult (adult not required to take the class, but must be onsite).
All Students must sign liability waiver to participate in class. Waiver can be seen here.

Clothing:
Bring cotton cloths (Jeans, T-Shirt etc) as they do not burn like synthetics
Closed toe shoes or better yet steel toe.
Safety glasses, ear protection and gloves if you have them
Drinking water.
Dress appropriately for Wisconsin weather that month...we get all four seasons . The workshop is heated.
